What are Mood Doodles?

Adult coloring books have been popular for quite a while.  They are a great way to sit and color and relax.  They can be meditative and promote a connection to your inner child.

However, I recently discovered “reverse-style coloring”. This new method of coloring was intriguing.  I realized this could be an even better way to promote relaxation and mindfulness.  I was inspired to develop the Mood Doodle series of backwards-style coloring books.

One of my issues with the adult coloring books, is my tendency to be too picky or perfectionist about what color to put where.  I would end up making myself a bit more stressed when the colors weren’t turning out the way I liked.

But, with reverse coloring, the concept of making a “pretty picture” goes by the way.  Instead, I’m released from my tendency for perfectionism, and have fun finding the design in the color already there.  It also tickles my puzzle-brain.  Is there something there in the chaos?

In Mood Doodles, you just put your pen on the page and let your imagination guide your doodling.

It’s been interesting doodling when I’m feeling differently. When I’m in a happy mood, I tend to doodle curves, loops, and swirls.  When I’m in a sour mood, rectangles, sharp corners, and bold lines are more common.  If I’m feeling whimsical, I sketch funny faces or people or animals.

My hope is that you’ll use Mood Doodles to help you distract your brain enabling you to relax, and allow your subconscious to contemplate without your conscious interference.
